was known as Seattle Pilots at that time. The team got its
present name when it was shifted to Milwaukee prior to the
1970 games.
The
first game that the Milwaukee Brewers played at Milwaukee was
held on 7th April, 1970. A total of 37,237 fans
flocked to watch them playing. Unfortunately, the Brewers
couldn’t come up to the expectations of their fans, as they
lost that game by 12-0 to California Angels. The entire season
was least favorable to the Brewers, as they couldn’t move
ahead of the 4th slot in AL west.
Though
the team had both skilled and experience players, the
Milwaukee Brewers couldn’t land above 2nd
position during 1970 & 80. The Milwaukee Brewers claimed
the Division Title and American League Pennant in 1982. In the
same year, the team also qualified for the first time in the
World Series but was beaten by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Milwaukee
Brewers registered an uninterrupted victory of six leagues
between 1978 and 1983. As
the year 1983 went by the team’s performance started
declining and the Milwaukee Brewers weren’t able to secure
even a single title for years.
In
1998, Milwaukees got transferred to the Central Division of
National League from the Central Division of American League.
It was on April 2, 1998 when the Milwaukee Brewers registered
